Questions, answered
49 straight answers about how Applyd tailors, what autofill does and never does, how your data is handled and how billing works.
Getting started
Set up in about five minutes, then apply from the side panel.
What is Applyd?
A job-application copilot: a web app plus a Chrome extension that opens in your browser's side panel. Upload your resume once, then on any job posting Applyd shows how well you match, tailors your resume and cover letter using only your real experience, and fills in the application form. You review everything and click submit yourself.
How do I get started?
Sign up with a one-time email code or Google and upload your resume — Applyd turns it into an editable profile. Review it, especially Common answers such as work authorization, notice period and salary, which are used to fill forms. Then install the Chrome extension, click “Connect account” in its side panel, open a job posting and click Analyze. Setup takes about five minutes.
Getting started guideWhat can I upload to build my profile?
A resume as a PDF or Word (DOCX) file — a LinkedIn profile saved as a PDF works too. Applyd extracts your contact details, work history, education, skills, projects and certifications into a profile you can edit at any time. Your profile is the single source of truth: tailored documents can only use facts that are in it.
Do I need the Chrome extension?
For autofill and for analysing postings where you find them, yes. Without it you can still sign up, upload your resume, edit your profile, tailor resumes and cover letters from a pasted job description and manage your tracker in the web app.
Can I use Applyd on my phone?
Yes, for everything except autofill: sign up, upload your resume, edit your profile, tailor documents from a pasted job description and manage your tracker. Autofill runs in the Chrome extension on a laptop or desktop — after signing in on your phone, choose “Email me the desktop link” to continue there. Opened Applyd from TikTok or Instagram? In-app browsers block Google sign-in, so use the email code or choose “Open in browser”.
Using Applyd on your phoneCan I try anything without an account?
Yes. The free tools need no sign-up: an ATS resume checker that scores how readable your resume is (files are processed in memory and not stored), a keyword match that compares your resume with a job description in your browser, and original cover letter examples for common roles.
Free toolsTailoring & honesty
What changes, what never changes, and how every draft is checked.
Will Applyd make things up on my resume?
No. Applyd only reorders, rephrases and emphasises what's already in your profile. It's blocked from inventing employers, titles, dates, degrees or numbers, and every tailored resume is checked against your original before you see it.
What exactly changes when Applyd tailors a resume?
The order, wording and emphasis of your existing experience. Applyd mirrors the posting's wording only when it truthfully describes what you did. Employers, job titles, dates, degrees, schools and certifications are copied straight from your profile, and skills must be ones you already list or clearly used.
How tailoring worksHow is each tailored resume checked?
Before you see it, Applyd compares the draft with your profile and flags anything it can't trace back: entries that aren't in your profile, numbers that don't appear in it and skills you haven't listed. It retries once with that feedback; anything that still fails is removed and your original bullet is restored.
What does the match score tell me?
A 0–100 fit score for that posting, the keywords you already match, the ones you're missing and three quick wins. Checking your match never uses your monthly allowance.
Can applicant tracking systems read Applyd resumes?
Yes. All four templates — classic, modern, compact and minimal — are single-column with standard headings and real text, the format applicant tracking systems parse best. Download as PDF or Word. Applyd also fits each resume to one page where it can, adjusting spacing first and then font size.
What are the cover letters like?
250–350 words in a professional, enthusiastic or concise tone, written for the specific job from your real experience. Like resumes, letters can't introduce numbers that aren't in your profile.
Can I edit what Applyd writes?
Always. Open any resume or cover letter from Documents to edit the text, switch the template, paper size or spacing, and re-download — editing never uses your allowance. Your own edits are yours: Applyd only shows a gentle warning if you type a number that isn't in your profile.
What's in an interview prep?
For a specific job: eight likely questions with what each one is probing, a STAR answer outline for each built only from your real experience, five questions to ask the interviewer, and up to five gaps worth preparing for. If your profile has no relevant story, the prep says so rather than inventing one.
Does Applyd help with recruiter outreach?
Yes. For any job it drafts a short LinkedIn connection note, an email to the recruiter or hiring manager and a follow-up for a week later, written for that role from your profile. You copy, edit and send them yourself.
Autofill & sites
Where Applyd works, and how it fills forms without ever submitting.
Which job sites does Applyd work on?
LinkedIn Jobs, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday have dedicated support, and a generic mode works on most other career pages — iCIMS, SmartRecruiters, Taleo, BambooHR and custom forms usually work. If Applyd can't detect a job description, highlight it, right-click and choose “Use as job description”.
Supported sites and tipsDoes Applyd ever submit an application for me?
Never. Applyd fills in the form, highlights anything that needs a look and stops. Every click it makes goes through a guard that refuses submit buttons, so you review the form and click submit yourself — every time.
How does autofill work on Workday?
Step by step. Sign in to that employer's Workday account, then on each step — My Information, My Experience, Application Questions, Voluntary Disclosures — click Autofill in the side panel. Review the highlighted fields and click Workday's own “Save and Continue”; Applyd never clicks it for you. On the next step it detects the change and can fill again.
Workday walkthroughWhat do the green and yellow outlines mean?
Green means a field was filled from your profile. Yellow means it needs your review — a drafted answer, a sensitive question or a value Applyd wasn't sure about. No outline means Applyd didn't touch it. The side panel lists every field so you can jump straight to it.
Autofill skipped a field. What should I do?
Check your profile has that information — a notice period, for example, lives in Common answers. If nothing happened at all, click “Enable on this site” in the side panel and try again. Fields you've already typed in are left alone on purpose; tick “Overwrite fields I already filled” if you want Applyd to replace them.
Autofill troubleshootingDoes Applyd attach my resume?
Yes — your tailored resume as a PDF, or as a Word file when a form doesn't accept PDFs. If an upload still fails, download it from Documents and attach it yourself.
What about questions like “Why do you want to work here?”
Applyd drafts an answer from your profile and shows it to you to edit before it's inserted. Answers you write are saved to your answer bank and suggested the next time a similar question appears — always shown for editing, never inserted automatically.
Does autofill work on forms in other languages?
Yes — application forms in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Dutch.
Will Applyd stop me applying to the same job twice?
It warns you before you apply twice to the same job. Every application you autofill or save is logged on your tracker, so you can always see where you've already applied.
Privacy & security
Who can see your data, who processes it, and how to remove it.
What happens to my data?
Your resume, profile and documents are stored privately and only you can access them. We never sell your data, don't use ad trackers and don't use your data for advertising. You can export or delete everything at any time.
Privacy policyWho can see my resume and documents?
Only you. Every database query is scoped to your account with row-level security, files live in a private storage bucket under your user ID, and downloads use short-lived signed links. Automated tests verify that users can only ever read their own rows.
Security at ApplydIs my data used to train AI models?
No. Applyd uses Anthropic's API, which doesn't use your inputs or outputs to train models. AI and payment keys stay on our servers — they never ship to your browser or the extension.
Which companies process my data?
Four service providers, each under contract and only on our instructions: Supabase (sign-in, database and private file storage), Anthropic (AI processing), Stripe (payments) and Vercel (hosting). We don't use any other third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services.
How are self-identification questions handled?
Questions about gender, race, veteran or disability status are optional. Applyd only stores your answers if you explicitly consent in your profile; otherwise it always answers “Prefer not to say”. Withdrawing consent resets them immediately.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes, both from Settings. “Export my data” downloads a JSON file with your profile, jobs, applications, documents list and answers. “Delete account” cancels any subscription, deletes your files and removes your account — it can't be undone.
Export and deletionHow long do you keep my data?
Your account, profile, documents and tracker for as long as your account is active — they're deleted when you delete it. Product analytics events are kept for 400 days, error reports for 90 days and autofill quality data for 180 days. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
How do I report a security issue?
Email support@applyd.app with the subject “Security report” and the details needed to reproduce it. We'll acknowledge within 3 business days, keep you updated and credit you if you'd like.
Responsible disclosurePlans & billing
Every feature on every plan — plans differ only in volume.
What does the free plan include?
Every feature, with 5 tailored applications and 1 interview prep every month — no credit card. Match scores, autofill and the tracker don't use your allowance. Invite a friend and you both get +5.
How do the paid plans differ?
Only in volume — every plan has every feature. Plus is 25 tailored applications a month for $15, Pro 50 for $29 and Max 120 for $59, with 10, 20 and 40 interview preps. Paying every 3 months saves 17–21%.
Compare plansWhat counts as a tailored application?
The first resume or cover letter you generate for a job in a calendar month — the other document for that job is included, so a resume and cover letter together count once. Match scores, autofill, the answer bank, the tracker and editing documents never use your allowance, and if a generation fails the credit is returned. Unused allowance doesn't roll over.
What happens if I run out?
Add a top-up — +20 tailored applications for $9, on any plan, Free included — or upgrade. Top-ups are used after your monthly allowance and never expire. Referral bonuses work the same way.
How do payments work?
Paid plans are billed in advance in US dollars, monthly or every 3 months, and renew automatically until you cancel. Payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card number — and your invoices and payment method are a click away on the Billing page.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Click “Cancel plan” on the Billing page in your dashboard. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, then move to Free.
Can I switch plans?
Any time, from the Billing page. Moving between Plus, Pro and Max happens in Stripe's billing portal, which prorates the difference on your next invoice. Moving to Free is the same as cancelling.
What if a payment fails?
Your plan stays active for a 7-day grace period while you update your card from the Billing page.
Do you offer refunds?
Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise — which is why cancelling keeps your plan active until the end of the period you've already paid for. Price changes come with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal.
The extension
Permissions, connecting your account and what it can and can't read.
Which browsers does the extension support?
Google Chrome and other Chromium browsers — Microsoft Edge, Brave and Arc — on a laptop or desktop computer. It isn't available on phones.
How do I connect the extension to my account?
Add Applyd from the Chrome Web Store and pin it from Chrome's puzzle-piece menu. Click its icon to open the side panel and click “Connect account”. A tab opens on Applyd — sign in if asked, click “Connect extension” and you'll see “Connected!”.
Install and connectWhy does the extension ask for permissions?
Each one has a single job. Side panel shows Applyd next to the posting; active tab and scripting let it read the job and fill the form on the tab you're using when you click a button; storage keeps you signed in and remembers your settings; the context menu adds “Use as job description”. Site access is optional and granted per site, by you.
Every permission explainedDoes the extension read my browsing history?
No. It reads a page only when you open the side panel there and ask it to — Analyze, Autofill or “Use as job description”. It never runs on sites you haven't enabled and never submits anything.
What does “Enable on this site” do?
It grants Applyd access to that one site through Chrome's own prompt, so it keeps working across multi-step forms like Workday and inside embedded application forms, such as Greenhouse on a company's careers page. No site access is granted at install, and you can revoke it any time in Chrome's extension settings.
How do I sign the extension out?
Click “Disconnect” in the side panel. The extension has its own secure session, separate from your browser tab, so signing out of the website doesn't disconnect it.
What does “Report a problem” send?
The site's domain, the form type, the extension version and how many fields were found, filled or failed — plus your optional note. Never what you typed into the form.
Does the extension load code from the internet?
No. All of its code ships inside the extension package; it only calls Applyd's own HTTPS API for AI features.
